kitchenBA11The Remodelers Showcase begins today and wraps up on Sunday along with the Spring Parade of Homes. It’s been fun touring the beautiful homes this year while meeting and greeting folks as they search for that perfect home or remodeling idea! With foot traffic high and inventory low on existing homes, the deals are getting put together fast and furious.

Are you working with a buyer who’s frustrated with the low inventory of existing homes? Perhaps the perfect solution is remodeling their existing home. Maybe it’s putting on an addition for that growing family or remodeling to get the kitchen of their dreams – or maybe it’s a complete tear-down and rebuild. The Remodelers Showcase would be a great source for inspiration and ideas. Take those buyers out this weekend for a tour!

The key to financing any home, especially when it comes to building a new one or financing a home improvement project, is to work with professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced in structuring these types of transactions, like The Kate Wilson Team. For information on Financing Your Rehab/Remodel and How Construction Loans Work check out our website at http://katewilson.com/loan-programs or call (952) 853-0222 and we’ll be glad to walk you through the process step-by-step. Construction financing is readily available and as simple as 1.2.3.

If your niche is existing homes and you’re a little uncomfortable suggesting your client consider building new or remodeling their existing home, we are a resource for you. Whether it’s new construction or remodeling, selecting the right professional for you or your clients is more than price and fancy finishes – it takes experience and expertise, and The Kate Wilson Team has both. We work with an excellent group of professional builders and remodelers and would be honored to make a referral, just give us a call!

The Remodelers Showcase homes are open from 1:00-7:00pm today, and from noon-6:00pm Saturday and Sunday.  Visit www.ParadeofHomes.org or grab a Remodelers Showcase Guidebook from your local Holiday Stationstore. Randy and I will be out and about tomorrow touring homes – hope we see you! Barb Crea, NMLS #310389

Celebrate Spring! …by Randy Cullen

Our Minnesota winter turned out to be mild, with the east and southeast taking the brunt of it from Mother Nature; but no matter what you thought of winter, spring arrives today! While the season is typically associated with the months of March, April, and May, the first actual day of spring (also known as the spring or vernal equinox) falls on March 20 or 21 each year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is one of the four seasonal astronomical events that impact earth. The other three are the summer solstice, the autumnal equinox, and the winter solstice.

There are differences between solstices and equinoxes. Solstices occur in the summer and winter. The earth rotates on its axis and reaches its point of maximum tilt in December (winter solstice), when the northern hemisphere is the most tilted away from the sun; or in June (summer solstice), when it is tilted the most toward the sun. The winter solstice is when the sun appears to “move” south and get smaller, reaching its lowest point in the sky.  The summer solstice is when the sun will appear to move northward to reach its highest point in sky.

The vernal equinox is when the sun moves across the celestial equator and as such, there should ideally be 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. The term equinox is a derivative of the Latin word equinoxium, which literally means “equality between day and night.”  This is a good start, but I look forward to the summer solstice in June when we have the most sunlight!

Two other astronomical events take place today along with the vernal equinox – a solar eclipse and a Supermoon. This is the Earth’s first and only total solar eclipse of the year, but unfortunately it won’t be visible anywhere in the United States. A partial solar eclipse will be visible across Europe, where they will see anywhere from 50 to nearly 99% of the sun’s diameter eclipsed by the moon, according to Space.com.  The Supermoon is a full or new moon that happens during the moon’s closest approach to Earth on its elliptical orbit.

With the arrival of the spring season comes warmer temperatures. This change in the weather is because the Earth’s axis is tilted towards the sun, which makes longer daylight hours and warmer weather. The major spring holiday is Easter, and its date varies year to year based on the vernal equinox and the full moon. The holiday falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. This year, Easter is on April 5th.

The Parade of Homes and the Auto Show are always MY indicators that spring is upon us; or the “spring forward” daylight savings time change that I struggle with every year – I really need natural sunlight in the morning to wake up! Whatever it is that triggers YOUR sense that spring has sprung, be assured that sun-filled skies and warm temperatures will get people out and about.  Here’s to helping all those warm weather buyers find the homes of their dreams.  That will make us all happy!  Happy Spring! – Randy Cullen NMLS #326128
